Fifth grade assists NASA

Written by Christy Richardson on February 20, 2014

At Pine Cobble, we believe in citizen science. As we see it, everyone — even children — has a role to play in helping humans better understand our world. We’ve got a few citizen science projects going on right now. Here, fifth grade makes ground observations of clouds, which they’ll send to NASA. NASA will use these observations to validate satellite data.

Science isn’t something that kids can do someday. Participation in scientific research doesn’t have to wait for graduate school, or college, or high school, or even middle school. Look: fifth graders (and younger) are doing it.
