Pine Cobble School Accepting Scholarship Application

Hunter Scholarship Available to New Students, Supplements Generous Financial Aid Packages

Pine Cobble School is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for the Hunter Family Scholarship, an endowed scholarship available to new students grades 5-9 for the 2015-16 year.

The Hunter Family Scholarships are made possible by a gift from the estate of Irene M. & James H. Hunter. The scholarships are open to qualifying new students entering grades 5-9. A Hunter Family Scholarship covers full tuition (excluding activity fees), beginning in the 2015-16 school year. It will apply to the tuition for each academic year the student attends Pine Cobble School, as long as the student remains in good standing.

Applications are accepted through March 15, 2015, and families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. The Hunter Family Scholarship will be awarded to new students who have excellent academic credentials, natural curiosity, enthusiasm for learning, and a record of outstanding citizenship. Hunter Scholars must be enthusiastic about joining Pine Cobble’s community of talented students, strong leaders and thoughtful individuals.

“The Pine Cobble experience is unlike any available elsewhere in the region,” said Susannah Wells, head of school. She notes that Pine Cobble offers not just an outstanding academic experience, but also a powerful character education program; a vast array of hands-on project-based learning opportunities; the chance to do original research; a healthy lunch program from Wild Oats Community Market; outdoor classes; robust opportunities for free play and collaborative learning; small class size; and a community that’s second to none.”

Wells notes that generous financial aid is always available to qualified students, but that the Hunter Scholarship is guaranteed for the remainder of that student’s years at Pine Cobble assuming the student continues to contribute enthusiastically to the community.

Pine Cobble has 150 students, up significantly in recent years. The school’s enrichment opportunities include a strong focus on the arts, an athletic program directed by a former professional soccer player, and an array of extracurricular experiences. Students who attend Pine Cobble School learn to strive for excellence, embrace their natural curiosity, think analytically, and articulate their thoughts with clarity and confidence.
