Pine Cobble School is pleased to welcome the community to its inaugural Family Food Day, held this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon. The event includes a kid-judged healthy baking competition, vermicompost worms, barnyard animals, activities and crafts for children, healthy food samples, and local farm representatives.
“It’s a chance to deepen children’s understanding of sustainability, ecology, and the connection between healthy food and a strong mind and body,” said Sue Wells, head of school. “At Pine Cobble, we are thrilled to help children make the connection between the things they’re learning in the classroom and the world around them. Family Food is one example of that.”
Pine Cobble has a campus garden and a robust composting program; ecology, sustainability, and food and water cycles are integrated into the classroom at every level.
Family Food Day takes place at 163 Gale Road in Williamstown this Saturday morning, beginning at 10:00 AM.
